It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you this year’s UK Community Radio Awards (based in Preston) will no longer be taking place through a combination of health issues and family stresses.

Our C.E.O will be going through a much needed surgery within the next few weeks, while other members of our team have had to deal with personal issues in recent months.

We stress our sincerest apologies and couldn’t be more aggrieved that this decision has been taken, particularly considering all of the hard work put in by our whole team for almost a year.

For all stations and individuals that have entered our awards we require a copy of a bank statement confirming your payment into our Paypal account, so we can return a full refund.

Once again we offer our sincerest apologies.

After several requests to extend our closing date from both community stations around the country and individuals working in the sector, we have decided to allow an extra 15 days for entry! As this will be the UK’s first community radio awards we want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to enter, and receive recognition for their great work. The 15th of July will be the FINAL date for those interested in entering our, so don’t miss your chance to become one of the first ever winners of a nation wide recognised #CRAward!

2016 will be the first year that the UK will recognise the fantastic work committed by volunteers across the country in community radio stations nationally, as we bring you the nation’s first ever nationwide community radio awards. This will be a night not to be missed by anyone within the community radio industry and a highlight of the community radio social calendar.

All entrants and guests of the UK Community Radio Awards (‪#‎CRAwards16‬ ‪#‎CRAwards2016‬) will be in for a fantastic evening, and will be entitled to; a gourmet three course dinner, red carpet reception with drinks on arrival, a chance to mix with piers from within the community radio industry, and winners will receive a bespoke trophy, a cash prize and a certificate indicating excellence in their field.

The ‪#‎CRAwards16‬ is about rewarding every volunteer whom offers their free time to provide local communities across the nation an under appreciated service. We want to offer the opportunity to come together and celebrate outstanding work & contributions by stations & individuals across the sector. Community radio is an important part of the way local people perceive their area, and a strong station can revolutionise a locality, as well as offer engagement to the surrounding area via your broadcasting.

Quality has certainly not been lacking across the industry, in fact our own experience in community radio has helped us noticed a hotbed of emerging talent, that has, and will, go on to fund many areas of the UK Media for years to come. We have also seen a huge spike of interest from mainstream commercial presenters and staff taking an active role in local community radio, which is down to the level of professionalism shown by this industry in recent years.

That’s why we are inviting community stations far and wide to be involved in this fantastic awards evening, and get the national recognition they deserve; for all areas of a successful community station such as presenting, producing, news-gathering, and many other important roles.
